STC’s Archery Club receives donation from Marshall/Tama Pheasants Forever

May 19, 2014
Dick Koehler , Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

The National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) was developed to serve specific educational and conservation purposes. Natural resources professionals were convinced that learning target shooting skills would result in character and self-reliance development.

STC schools were allowed to participate in a trial run using the Iowa DNR's loaner equipment for the month of March. The 5th and 8th grade P.E. classes were selected to participate. From this trial run, several middle school students came forward asking to start a club to participate in competition with surrounding schools.

A grant fro the DNR was awarded to pay for the cost of the equipment. White Tails Forever and Marshall/Tama County Pheasants Forever have generously donated funds supporting the other half of the equipment costs. The STC Archers Club is accepting all donations to support their coming season expenses for 2014-15. They are also in need of adults to volunteer during the year. Training is available throu the DNR.
