ST/EM hosted Benton on Monday with a 4:30 start to the game. ST/EM started the game with Hanna Keckler in goal, Sam Earley, Hailee Weiss, Cynthia Lares, and Ericka Dunning in defense, Kristi Lasley, Kylee Hoskins, Dani Stubbs and Kloey Fairall in mid-field, with Mona Munez and Erin Filloon as forwards. The weather was sunny but cool with a wind out of the NW.

ST/EM had the opening kickoff, but Benton took it away, and on the first attack of the night, Benton took the ball down to the end line and a quick shot, took the ST/EM defense off stride, and in the first minute, Benton led 1-0. ST/EM woke up after this and the game was on. ST/EM and Benton played an up and down game for the next 25 minutes, with both teams attacking and counter attacking. Benton was successful again at the 25 minute mark on almost the same play as the first goal. An attack from the end line with a shot that was lifted over the goalie, and into the back corner of the far side of the net. And this is the way the half ended with Benton holding a 2-0 lead.

The second half found Benton controlling the flow of the game for the first 20 minutes. ST/EM defense were under pressure, and ST/EM could not get a rhythm. Benton scored at the 46 minute mark for a 3-0 lead. Finally ST/EM started to gain control half way thru the second half, and the game slowing moved back to half line and into the Benton end. ST/EM had some good build ups

But ST/EM could not find the back of the net. And this is the way the game ended, with Benton taking a hard fought 3-0 win.

The ST/EM girls played a solid game, but need to be ready to play on the opening play of a match. ST/EM players played hard and won their share of 50-50 balls, and started to pass the ball better, and quicker. This helped with attacks, and showed that the team is improving. ST/EM still needs to figure out a scoring combo, but this game showed signs that they are getting it figured out. Overall, the game was a solid effort on everyone's parts, from the starters to the subs, Courtney Ceaser, Socorro Mendoza, Alyssa Patro, Araceli Angel, Anna Jensen and Nicole Johnson. ST/EM had 6 corners to 13 for Benton. Shots for ST/EM were 8 with Benton having 19.

ST/EM JV squad came away with a 1-0 win, with Socorro Mendoza getting the goal for ST/EM.
