MARSHALLTOWN - Nine Marshalltown Community College students were honored as Outstanding Students during the annual Recognition Banquet on Thursday, April 10 in DeJardin Hall. The MCC Student Senate and MCC Foundation sponsored the banquet in which professors spoke about why they chose each particular student, sharing success stories and presenting the students with a certificate.
Each MCC Outstanding Student had his/her own story of excellence in academics. Many community college students have unique challenges, quite often working full-time in addition to carrying a full load of college credits. Many students have families and all of the responsibilities that come with them. When they achieve success academically, or go above and beyond what is required in the classroom or in leadership on campus, the students truly deserve the title of "outstanding."
