Before Judge Sean McPartland in Tama County District Court in Toledo:
Jamie Michael Cole, 40, Montour, entered guilty pleas to charges of domestic abuse assault causing injury and domestic abuse assault with a dangerous weapon. For domestic abuse assault he was sentenced to 34 days in jail and fined $315. For assault with a weapon he was sentenced to a suspended, two-year prison term and fined $625. Cole was placed on probation for two years, directed to pay a $300 probation supervisory fee and the complete the Iowa Domestic Abuse Program within six months.
He was charged on March 13 for allegedly striking his live-in girlfriend in the head arms and back several timers with his closed fist. He then allegedly struck her on the left side of her head with a 25 lb. dumbbell causing injury. The charges were filed by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Michael Wright.
Jamie Allen Medulan, 39, Cedar Rapids, was sentenced to a suspended, five-year prison term, fined $750 and placed on probation for three years to the Department of Correctional Services after pleading guilty to 3rd degree burglary. He was directed to reside in a community corrections facility for up to 365 days. He was also ordered to pay victim restitution to be determined.
Medulan was charged on Dec. 17 for allegedly entering property in the 1000 block of East 5th Street in Tama and stealing blank checks, jewelry and other unspecified property. The charge was filed by Tama Police Officer Barnette Curry.
