Fifth straight property tax drop for Iowa Valley Community College District

A public hearing was held on the proposed 2015-15 IVCCD budget on Wednesday, March 12. Receiving no public comments, the Board approved its FY15 budget in which the property tax asking will be reduced for the fifth consecutive year. The estimated total tax rate per $1,000 valuation for FY15 will be $1.79506.

A new Mobile Service Technician two-year degree program to be offered at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls was approved by the IVCCD Board. The new program will partner with Titan Machinery and others to offer the first-of-its-kind program in the nation. The Mobile Service Technician program will be submitted for review and approval to the Iowa Department of Education; if approved as anticipated, it is scheduled to be offered for Fall 2014.

Several employees and students were noted for recognitions and accomplishments during the past month: Jasmin Cisneros, MCC Library Associate, completed an Associate degree; five students (Julie Schwartz/ECC, Cody Schmitz/MCC, Lindsey Yanecek /MCC, Beth Fisher/IVGrinnell, and Erin Johnson/IVGrinnell) were named to the 2014 All-Iowa Academic Team.
