Terry Johnson, executive director of Genesis Development, reported on the new home his organization has in the Toledo-Tama area to the Tama County Board of Supervisors on Monday, March 17.
Johnson said the house was occupied in December, 2013. The house has five bedrooms, three baths and kitchen. Johnson said the occupants were very satisfied with the new housing.
Genesis took over the Tama County Care Facility in 2009 and has operated it since as Pheasant Ridge. It's located two miles north of Toledo.
Tama County Board of Supervisors
Last year, a federal mandate reduced the number of residents that could be housed there under Medicaid funding guidelines.
2015 Budget Approved
No one was present for the hearing on the 2015 county budget and it was adopted by supervisors, The budget totals $22,324,467, down from $24,531,059 in the current year.
Proposed property tax levies were county-wide- $6.16; rural only - $2.12.
New Bridges Planned
Lyle Brehm, county engineer, told supervisors he plans to do two new bridges this year. These will be paid for through federal funding. The money from the federal government comes to the state and is distributed to the county. As a result, the county works with the state and must meet all state regulations.
The bridges are located in Grant township, section 19 west of Dinsdale and in Clark township, section 26 southwest of Dysart on W Avenue.
In other business on Monday the supervisors:
approved a 28E agreement which allows Emmet County to join the county social services already covering 21 counties that include Tama.
approved a liquor license for the Traer Golf and Country Club. This is for a Class C liquor License (LC) Commercial including outdoor services and Sunday sales.
approved claims totaling $189,721.
