Toledo-Tama Kiwanis Club have announced that they will sponsor a replacement program for outdated infant car seats.
The Kiwanis believe that every child living in the South Tama County School District should be transported in a safe car seat. Many parents are not aware that the seats have an expiration date stamped on the bottom after which the seat is no longer safe to use.
The Kiwanis will be teaming with the Tama Police Department to inspect the expiration date on seats, make sure the seats are correctly installed and that the seats are properly fitted to the child. If necessary, the Kiwanis will exchange a defective seat for a new one.
The first safety check will be held on April 3, in the parking lot of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in conjunction with the monthly WIC Clinic.
