Gordon Lasley Jr. now faces charges of two counts of murder in U.S. District Court. On March 7, FBI Special Agent Shauntay Lett filed the charges in an affidavit with U.S. Chief Magistrate Judge Jon Stuart Scoles in Cedar Rapids.
As a result, Lasley, 25, of the Meskwaki Settlement, rural Tama, is now being held in federal custody and is no longer n the Tama County Jail in Toledo, a jail spokesperson said Friday. He had been held on $2 million cash only vond.
In a ruling filed March 13, Magistrate Judge Scoles ordered Lasley held based upon the charge of a violent offense, release would pose a danger to the community, he is unemployed, abuses alcohol and marijuana and was on probation at the time of the alleged murders.

He was originally charged on Feb. 6 with 1st degree murder of his mother and father, Gordon Lasley Sr., 60, and Kim Johnson Lasley, 57, at their home on the Settlement the night before.
It is alleged a machete was used ito commit the murders. Those charges were filed by Meskwaki Nation Tribal Police Detective Craig Karr.
