The STC Varsity Boys track team kicked off their season at the Wartburg Indoor Invitational. Coach George Kuhter said, "This was a good meet for us to open with especially for our older kids. With only two weeks of practice it was good to see were we are for this early in the season. I thought Dylan and Tyler ran very strong but in order to compete they know how hard it is going to be and the work they put in now is important for the outdoor season." The following are the results of the individual events: 55 Dash: 11-Blocker 6.97, 28-Kasal 7.29; 55M Hurdles: 4-Kalinay 8.04, 21-Kajer 9.74; 55 M Hurdle: 6-Kalinay 8.11; 200 M Dash: 10-Blocker 24.54, 6-Kalinay 24.16; 400 M Run: 25-Beyer 1:00.26, 33-Phinney 1:04.37; 800 M Run: 30-Jaret Morris 2:38.39, 32-Ellenbecker 2:45.49; 1600 M Run: 17-Keller 5:06.27, 38-6:15.89; 4x200 Relay: 12-(Blocker, Lowe, Kalinay, Kasal) 1:42.10; 4x800 Meter Relay: 18-(Rios, Tyynismaa, Morris, Ellenbecker) 10:41.04; 4x400 Meter Relay: 12-(Rutledge, Tyynismaa, Beyer, Phinney); 3200 Meter Run: 12-Keller 10:45.25, 33-Belton 13:36.04; High Jump: 3-Rutledge 5'8"; Shot Put: 29-Blocker 34'101/2, 30-Lowe 31'91/2.
With this being the first meet Kuhter stated, "Our younger guys got a taste of what the season is going to be like and they realized that in order to compete they will have to work a little bit harder. I will be interesting to see where this bunch goes on with the season and where we wind up in May."
