Money Smart poster contest for elementary students

March 4, 2014
Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

The State Bank of Toledo and Community Bankers of Iowa (CBI) have teamed up to sponsor a poster contest to motivate elementary school students to learn about money. For showing Iowa bankers what they know about money, students in 2nd through 6th grades have the chance to win either a $500 Certificate of Deposit (1 St place), or a $200 Certificate of Deposit (2nd & 3rd places) at the state level. Additionally, the State Bank of Toledo will be randomly selecting one lucky contestant who will receive a $50 donation toward a new or existing savings account.

As part of Money Smart Week 2014, elementary students can submit poster designs to either of the State Bank of Toledo's convenient locations. Posters should answer the question: "There's a lot to learn about money. What should you know now?"

Participating elementary students should submit their poster designs to the State Bank of Toledo by April 5, 2014. Posters will be displayed in the bank from now until they are submitted to Community Bankers of Iowa on April 12, 2014. Complete rules, submission guidelines, are available at

Throughout Money Smart Week (April 5-12, 2014), participating community groups, financial institutions, government agencies, educational organizations, and financial experts will host free educational events to help Iowans of all ages learn to better manage their personal finances.
