This subzero weather can depress anybody, so as an antidote, try attending some hot classes! On Feb. 18 and 19, Tuesday and Wednesday, at 6:30 PM in the Tama Library, you can learn to play the king of all card games - bridge. It is a game of strategy where you can learn to communicate with your partner as to what cards you hold. This allows you to find a good fit and a good bid. Then you learn strategies on getting the most points possible out of your cards. Tuition for this class is $9.00 but the fun it will provide is priceless.
Next, if you like to read, warm up with one of two book clubs. The Chelsea book club meets at 7:00 PM on Thursday, Feb. 20 at the Chelsea Library. The Tama -Toledo book club meets at the Tama Library on February 20 at 7:00 PM. Both groups meet for an hour of book talk and talk in general. This is an hour away from the routine of the month. Just show up as there is no tuition, but there is a lot of good conversation and fellowship.
It may seem hard to believe, but spring is really coming eventually. Get ready for planting in the great outdoors as Jordan Schiebel shows you how to grow your garden plants from seed. You can start flowers, vegetables, and herbs and save a great deal of money by not buying store bought plants. Jordan will help you with temperature requirements, light requirements, and successful transplanting. You will also learn about the use of plastic trays, soil blocks, and homemade containers. This class meets at the Toledo Library on Tuesday, March 4, at 6:30. Tuition if $15.00. Bring a bit of spring into your home and start your plants now.
Finally, you will want to sign up for Sandy McAntire's magical metal art class on Saturday, March 8 at 4 PM at her new place of business - the Shoestring Garden. Not only will you make magical metal art, but also you will see a magical place. Sandy has made the most interesting of places. Everywhere you look, you will see her creativity in the decor. Under her direction, you will create a piece of metal art for your home or garden. Bring $12.00 payable to Sandy at the time of the class for materials. Tuition for this class is $18.00.
