There has been discussion with the Tama County Board of Supervisors about joining the North East Iowa Response Group.
This is a group of counties that would like to have the capability of working with the water, fire, rescue and their support personnel and equipment in the event of a hazardous substance emergency.
On Monday, Tama County supervisors voted 3-0 to join the group under a 28E agreement. The Response Group will be made up of the counties of Allamakee, Black Hawk, Bremer, Butler, Chickasaw, Grundy, Hardin, Howard, Poweshiek, Tama and Winneshiek, if all approve.

Monday, March 17, was set for a public hearing on the county budget for 2014-15.
More than one option will be presented to the supervisors to study and decide which one to sned to the publishers. The budget published cannot be reduced after publication.
County Engineer Lyle Brehm reported the county's supply of salt has dwindled and they are now blending sand with the salt before spreading the mixture. Brehm says this is not a cost saving issue but will stretch the use of the salt. Brehm said the county had used nearly 3200 ton of salt this year, believing this is the most he has used in any winter up till now.
The date of next weeks meeting has been changed from Monday, Feb. 17 to Tuesday Feb.18. This is due to the 17 falling on the Day Washington's birthday is observed.
Claims for the past week totaled $150,1837.
