Tama County District Court

Before Judge Mitchell E. Turner in Tama County District Court in Toledo:

Harley James Green, 19, rural Toledo, entered a written guilty plea to possession of a controlled substance, marijuana. He was fined $315 and his driver's license was revoked for 180 days. Green may obtain a work permit to drive if approved by the Department of Transportation.

He was charged on Sept. 13, 2013, in the 2800 block of K Avenue when the contents of three containers found in his room tested positive for marijuana. The charge was filed by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Trevor J. Killian.

Dustin James Hickman, 29, Tama, pled guilty to the lesser offense of making false reports. He was fined $150.

Hickman was charged on Nov. 18, 2013, for reporting to public safety communications or law enforcement knowing the information was false. The charge was filed by Tama Police Officer Jason Bina.

Starla Fawn Durnin, 29, rural Tama, pled guilty to possession of marijuana. She was sentenced to two days in jail and her driver's license was revoked for 180 days.

Durnin was charged on Aug. 23, 2013, with possession of marijuana in the 400 block of Meskwaki Road by Meskwaki Nation Tribal Police Officer Jacob Molitor.

Brock Christopher Leno, 39, Traer, entered a written guilty plea to charges of 2nd and 3rd degree harassment. He was fined a total of $380 on the two charges.

Leno was originally cited for 1st degree harassment for threatening his wife during a verbal dispute on Nov. 2, 2013. The charge was filed by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Joe Quandt.

Wal Puoch Deng, 41, Marshalltown, pled guilty to3rd offense drunken driving. He was sentenced to five years in prison with all but 30 days suspended and placed on probation for three years to the 6th Judicial District Department of Correctional Services. He was fined $3,125 and his driver's license was revoked for six years.

Deng was charged on July 4, 2013, at Otter Creek Lake and Park northeast of Toledo by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Joe Quandt.

Diana Lynn Ringgenberg, 54, Walker, Iowa, pled guilty to 2nd offense drunken driving. She was sentenced to 180 days in jail with 172 suspended, fined $1,875 and placed on probation for two years to the 6th Judicial District Department of Correctional Services.

Ringgenberg was charged on Oct. 6, 2013, on the U.S .Highway 30 Expressway at E Avenue by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Joe Quandt.

Alex Ramirez, 19, Toledo, entered written guilty pleas to 1st offense drunken driving and eluding a peace officer. He received deferred judgments on both charges and was placed on probation to the 6th Judicial District Department of Correctional Services. He was assessed civil penalties of $315 on each charge. He also received deferred judgments on a charge of reckless driving.

Ramirez was charged on Oct. 28, 2013, on the U.S. 30 Expressway at H Avenue by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Brian Randall.
