Urge support of South Tama levy

February 3, 2014
Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

Letter to the Editor:

On Tuesday, February 4, the PPEL (Physical Plant and Equipment Levy) comes up for a renewal vote. Money from this levy will provide funds for many infrastructure needs such as high school boiler replacement, parking lot repairs, bus replacements, and building repairs and renovations. In the past it has been used for roof repair and replacement, handicap accessibility equipment, locker replacements, and fiber optics, just to name a few. All money goes into the physical maintenance of our schools, and it is the main revenue source for maintaining the school's infrastructure.

THIS IS NOT A NEW TAX, but rather a continuation of a current levy. Since the PPEL levy involves both income and property surtaxes the cost is spread among all members of our community.

Please support your South Tama schools by voting in favor of the PPEL levy. Your "YES )) vote is an investment in the education of our community's youth and future.
