Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

Representative Dean Fisher (R-Garwin) has announced he will seek re-election to the Iowa House. Fisher, who is in his first term, represents all of Tama County and portions of Marshall and Black Hawk Counties.

During his tenure in the House, Fisher has worked to reduce Iowans' taxes, rein in out of control government spending while funding Iowans priorities, and strengthening Iowa's economic climate.

He has also been an outspoken advocate of the Iowa Juvenile Home. Fisher is committed to continuing his work in these areas.

"I am working to protect Iowans' pocketbooks against those in Des Moines who have an insatiable appetite for spending. I believe it's Iowans money first, not the government's and I will do what I can to send more of it back where it belongs, in the hands of the hardworking taxpayers," said Fisher.

"I am also very disappointed in the closing of the Iowa Juvenile Home and it is my hope that, for the sake of these troubled teens, the Legislature has the opportunity to weigh in on this important issue," Fisher said.

Upon graduation from South Tama High School, he received a Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology at the DeVry Institute of Technology in Chicago.

After a successful career in the electronics industry, Dean returned to the family farm in 2004, joining his brother in managing the family's Heritage farm.

Dean has supported local volunteer fire departments throughout the year by donating his unused legislative expenses, totaling more than $10,000.

The election will be held in November.
