The JV and freshman girls teamed up January 16 in an attempt to defeat the AGWSR Cougars, but fell short with a final score of 60-37.
Good Cougar defense kept the Trojans in single digit points until right before halftime, when junior Naomi Hoskey hit a lay-up and declared the halftime score 28-10, AGWSR. The Cougars continued to dominate the Trojans and won the game with a score of 60-37.
Starters for the game were senior Molly Morgan, juniors Sami Betz and Hoskey, and sophomores Alyssia Keahna and Tyeisha Arp.
STC’s Serena Lowe is on the dribble in the JV match up against AGWSR.
A highlight of the game for the crowd and the team was a last-minute pass by senior Tess Christensen to junior Lisa Morrow, who scored her first three-pointer of the season.
"In the beginning, the girls were too tentative and there was a lack of hustle"said JV girls head coach Larry Rohach. Hoskey agreed, adding that it took a while to get used to the new freshman on the team but eventually they got the hang of it.
The Trojans' 37 points were made up of Hoskey, 9, Morrow, 3, Betz, 2, Arp, 4, sophomore Chasia Shucahosee 7, freshman Kaitlyn Berger, 6, freshman Minnie Climer, 2, and freshman Serena Lowe, 4.
""We need to work on slowing it down and working better together as a team," said Hoskey.
