The energy behind the Trojans was clear as they stormed out of the locker room and began their warm up Friday evening, January 17. Under the direction of Coach Dustin Peska the Trojans faced the Union Knights and had a swift win 57-43.
Starters for the game included Josh Konicek, Nate Lasley, Lane Koch, Courage Tyon, and Jake Wilkerson. South Tama gained possession and did not hesitate. The first shot was made by Tyon within 10 seconds of the start of the game. The Trojans scored a total 19 points in the first quarter as Union managed to get 5 points.
In the second quarter, the first three pointer of the game was made by Wilkerson which contributed to the halftime score of 32-17. The scoring gap was narrowed by the end of the third to 46-36.
A second three pointer for South Tama came from Lasley in the fourth. This shot helped the Trojans reach a final of 57 to Union's 43. The Trojan's are now 7:1.
Of the Trojan's 43 points, the leading scorer Damion Chavez made 14, followed by Tyon and Konicek added 8 each, Lasley had 7, Justus Ward added 6, Koch with 4, and Wilkerson added 3.
