Hattie Agnes Cibula, 106, of Toledo, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 27, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher as celebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery in rural Toledo. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2014 from 4-6 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama where there will be a Vigil Service at 6 PM followed by the Rosary.
Hattie was born on January 15, 1908, in Carroll Township near Clutier, Iowa, the daughter of John and Agnes (Psenica) Husak.
She attended country school in Carroll Township and Toledo Township. Hattie graduated in 1926 from Toledo High School. She taught school for five years in Carroll and Otter Creek Townships.

On May 24, 1932, she was united in marriage to John J. Cibula at Holy Trinity Church in rural Toledo. They farmed southwest of Vining until 1972 and then moved to Toledo. Hattie was presently a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama and the Rosary Society. Her hobbies included crocheting and quilting, making several quilts throughout the years. Hattie also enjoyed baking, especially kolaches, gardening and flowers. She loved playing the card game Pepper.
Survivors include three daughters, Bernadette Hlas of Tama, Maxine Upah of Toledo and Kathleen (John) Runyan of Urbandale; nineteen grandchildren; forty-four great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren;
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, John; one sister, Anna Dvorak; one brother, William Husak; and two sons-in-law, Philip Hlas and Donald Upah.
A memorial fund has been established.
