Dianna L. Bauman
Dianna was born on May 24, 1950, to Raymond Chester and Gladys Arlene Ballard Pierschbacher near Chariton, Iowa. She attended school there and later attended Cosmetology School in Marshalltown.
On July 15, 1967, she was united in marriage to Roger Bauman at the Belinda Christian Church in Chariton. To this union were born three children; Jody, Dwaine and Jeff.
Dianna was a homemaker and a beautician. She had a shop in her home while the children were young, then at the Hair Hutch in Grinnell, and finally Marcia's Trim U before retiring. She enjoyed visiting with her clients and knowing their families. On May 1, 2007, she was the first lung transplant recipient at the University of Iowa Hospital since they reopened the program. She was an inspiration to us all and inspired many to donate and give a transplant.
She enjoyed country music, bird watching and camping. Dianna was known for her joke gifts and all her crochet doilies. She would often get together with her friends to crochet, knit and do crafts. Dianna enjoyed the little things in life and her laugh was infectious to all around her. Her greatest love was her family and spending all her precious time with her grandchildren. The tradition of Sunday family dinners with fried chicken, noodles and mashed potatoes will never be the same.
Dianna will be remembered by her husband, Roger Bauman, of Grinnell; her daughter, Jody (Tom) Mathes, of Tama; her sons, Dwaine (Robyn Bak) Bauman of Pella and Jeff (Crystal) Bauman of Grinnell; five grandchildren, Logan (Allie Bro) Mathes, Landon Mathes, Dalton Bauman, Seth Bauman and Eli Bauman; her siblings, Marsha (Zeke) Sanders and Randy (Kathy) Pierschbacher, all of Chariton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her father and mother-in-law, Lyle Sr. and Ileen Bauman; and her daughter-in-law, Jill Bauman.
