Bowman and Miller, P.C., the county's audit firm, has released an audit report on Tama County.
The county had local tax revenue of $25,993,783 for the year ended June 30, 2013, which included $1,228,618 in tax credits from the state. The County forwarded $18,073,975 of the local tax revenue to the townships, school districts, cities and other taxing bodies in the county.
The county retained $7,919,808 of the local tax revenue to finance county operations, a 2.8 percent increase from the prior year. Other revenues include charges for services of $1,685,412, operating grants, contributions and restricted interest of $4,409,398, capital grants, contributions, and restricted interest of $2,159,085, local option sales tax of $664,429 and unrestricted investment earnings of $74,964.
Expenditures for County operations totaled $17,237,082, a 2.8 percent increase from the prior year. Expenditures included $8,526,742 for Roads and Transportation, $3,249,427 for Public Safety and $1,477,913 for Mental Health.
