Electrical power dipped about 10 p.m. Thursday night, Dec. 26, in the Toledo area in what is sometimes described as a "brown-out." But for Alliant customers in western Tama County and Marshall County some 9,300 customers were without any power up until midnight according to Alliant spokesperson Justin Foss. It was reported the Meskwaki Casino Hotel west of Tama-Toledo went on to back up generators during the outage. Foss said about 250 of the customers were in western Tama County.

"A piece of equipment malfunctioned at a substation in Marshalltown. Crews were able to restore power before midnight," Foss told tamatoledonews.com.
