Code Talker family medals to be awarded at Sobriety Powwow

The Meskwaki Nation Community will be hosting a New Year's Eve Sobriety Powwow at the Meskwaki High School Gymnasium on Tuesday, Dec. 31, at the Meskwaki High School Gymnasium.

This will mark the 3rd year for this event and is open to the public. This important event is an effort to promote sobriety and wellness for community members and has drawn over 600 in attendance in the past two years.

Dinner will be served at 6:00 pm, Grand Entry will begin at 8 p.m., intertribal dancing, games and contest specials will be held throughout the night. Custom T Shirts will be given away.

Robert Morgan Post 701 will have a presentation for Code Talkers families.

Round Dancing will take place before Midnight all in attendance are welcome to join in on the dancing, as the scoreboard will countdown to the last second to bring in the new year.

A midnight meal will be served shortly after the new year. Grand door prize winners will receive an IPAD donated by Turtle Island Inc. and 42" TV donated by Modern Piping. Names will be announced to conclude the evening of events.
