A desire to further his experience working with youth and a long-time friendship with Toledo Police Officer Dan Quigley led Nathan Wunn to apply for an open position on the Toledo Police Force.
Wunn, 29, was selected for the job and sworn-in on Nov. 25 bringing the department back to full-strength of five full-time officers.
He brings a varied work background to the job.
"I look forward to personally seeing how I can work myself into the community with my school background youth experience."
He has most recently been serving as a teachers aide for special needs students at the East Marshall Middle School.
Prior to that he worked in movie and reality television show production based upon his schooling in digital film in Chicago. He worked as a production assistant on the movie The Unborn.
He then had a three-year stint as production manager for Monster Jam - racing of monster trucks.
He also has worked as a dispatcher at Van Wyk Freight Lines in Grinnell. Wunn lived in Tama for three years while working for the Salvation Army.
A native of Gilman, Wunn is a 2002 graduate of East Marshall High School.
He will attend the 14-week course at the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy beginning Jan. 13.
