I last reported to the general public on the theatre and opera house in June of this year.
Many fine things have been happening at the theatre since then and the Guild is busy making future plans.
On Sunday, November 24, there was a great live show by Monroe Crossing and people attended from all over our area and some came from out of state.
The Grace Community Singers will be performing a Christmas show on December 8th. The Wieting Theatre and Opera House will be presenting a fine arts performance series in 2014. The Creamery Theatre Camp will also be returning in July of 2014.
I want to bring our community up to date on the status of our restoration debt. WE have $99,000.00 remaining to pay for our renovation loan. Our goal is to have this paid off as soon as possible, so we can start on the next phase of our project. Theatre lighting and improvements behind the stage.
I will be sending out some letters asking for some additional donations. We have very few unpaid pledges and I am sure these will be paid in the near future. Call me at 641-751-6822 (C) if you have any questions or if you would like a tour of the theatre.
We will be quite busy right after January 1, 2014 planning for a visit from the Iowa Supreme Court on April 9th. The Court will be conducting oral arguments and this is a great chance for our students and the general public to see and hear the full Supreme Court in session.
The attendance at the theatre for movies and live shows has been good and the Guild has been able to show a positive cash flow.
I thank all the citizens of South Tama County and elsewhere for your great support of this project to save a historical Opera House.
