Tama County District Court

Before Judge Marsha M. Beckelman in Tama County District Court in Toledo:

Chance Wins Buffalo, 19, rural Tama, pled guilty to five counts of 3rd degree burglary. He received deferred sentences and was placed on probation for three years to the 6th Judicial District Department of Correctional Services. In addition, Buffalo was assessed civil penalties totaling $3,375 which were suspended and he was directed to pay restitution of $131 to Donald Gene Martens, Tama.

Two additional charges were dismissed.

Buffalo was charged with prowling in an unoccupied residential section of Tama in the early morning hours of March 12, 2012, by Tama Police.

Pamela Michelle Nichols, 32, Garwin, entered a written guilty plea to a charge of assault causing bodily injury. She received a deferred judgment, was placed on probation for one year and assessed a $315 civil penalty.

Nichols was charged on Aug. 27 for serious domestic abuse assault by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Michael Wright.

Kerry Lee Fleming, 29, Toledo, pled guilty to charges of failure to comply with the Sex Offender registry requirements, 2nd or subsequent offense and failure to comply with the Sex Offender Registry, providing false information, 1st offense.

Prison terms of five years for failure to comply and two years for false information were ordered served consecutively, then suspended. Fines totaling $1,375 were also suspended and Fleming was placed on probation for three years.

Charges were filed on July 30 after Fleming allegedly failed to notify the Tama County Sheriff's Office of change of address within five days on April 27 and for making false statements when he appeared in person for a quarterly update on June 3. The charges were filed by Deputy Sheriff Michael Wright.

Clarisa Ruth Wanatee, 19, rural Tama, entered written guilty pleas to charges of possession of nitrous oxide with the intent to induce intoxication and possession of marijuana. She received deferred sentences on each charge, was placed on probation for one year to the 6th Judicial District Department of Correctional Services and was assessed a $315 civil penalty on each count.

Wanatee was charged with possession of nitrous oxide in the 200 block of Battleground Road by Meskwaki Nation Tribal police on June 17 and the marijuana charge in a County Attorney's Information which was added to the original charge.

Christian Gonzalez-Torrero, 30, Tama, entered written guilty pleas to charges of 1st offense drunken driving and assault causing bodily injury. He was sentenced to two days in jail, fined $1,250 and directed to complete drinking drivers school on the drunken driving charge. He received a deferred judgment, was assessed a $315 civil penalty and placed on probation for one year to the 6th Judicial District Department of correctional Services on the assault charge.

Gonzales-Torrero was charged on South Elm Street on Sept. 2 by Toledo Police Officer Dan Quigley.
