No South Tama retirement incentive for 2013-14

South Tama schools personnel will not be offered an early retirement incentive for the second year. School board members voted 5-0 on Monday, Oct. 21, to follow Superintendent Kerri Nelson's recommendation to not reinstate the incentive.

Voting to not offer the incentive were members Michelle Yuska, Anne Michael, Mark McFate, Jackie Dvorak and Alan Kline.

At High School

Approval was given for Ames Environmental Inc. Consulting Service Contract for services providing asbestos removal project at the High School. They will provide project supervision, air monitoring and a final report.

This would include providing periodic inspections and advice during enclosure set up, full time supervision during all asbestos removal, providing collection and analysis of personal air samples, short term exposure limit air samples, air samples in the work area, at all exits from the work area and at the filtration unit exhausts on a daily basis. Clearance samples will be taken at the completion of the project.

The company will also provide a final report which includes all air sample results and all support documentation.

Contract fees would include project supervision, air monitoring, and final report be provided at a cost of $6,750.

Any controversy or claim arising out of or relating to this project would be settled by arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Commercial Arbitration Rules and judgement on the award rendered by the arbitrator, may be entered in any court having jurisdiction. If arbitration is required the losing side agrees to pay the attorney fees and costs as related to the dispute.

Personnel

Resignations accepted were from Teresa Vodochodsky as Middle School Education Aide effective Oct. 16, Angele Kickbush as 2nd grade teacher effective Oct. 21; Dustin Peska as Assistant Varsity Baseball coach pending suitable replacement and April Farley as Elementary Education Aide effective immediately.

Contracts were approved for Deyanira Perez as Elementary ELL Aide and Lorena Munoz as Middle School ELL aide, both effective Sept. 23, at the rate of $9.37 per hour.

Dustin Peska will be 8th Grade basketball coach, effective Nov. 20, with a contract for $2,168; Jackie Ellenbecker will be wrestling cheer sponsor effective Nov. 20, $732, and Todd Rosenberger will be assistant varsity aasketball coach effective Nov. 20, $2,845.

Volunteer coaches accepted were Mike Wedmore and Larry Fletcher for basketball, effective Oct. 21,and wrestling volunteer coaches Barrett Eller, Brandon Dunning and Dale Cruikshank, also all effective Oct/ 21/
