Smart Choice: Health Insurance" is a free two-hour workshop designed to build knowledge and skill for making choices in the new Health Insurance Marketplace. It will be offered by ISU Extension and Outreach three times in Tama County, with the first opportunity on Saturday October 26, 10 a.m.-noon, at the Toledo Public Library.
Part of the workshop will focus on understanding key health insurance concepts, identifying your own health care needs, and comparing policies to make the best choice for your situation. The second part of the workshop will focus on understanding the changes taking place due to the Affordable Care Act, and what that means to consumers. The workshop is especially useful to those who are currently uninsured or who buy insurance on their own rather than through an employer, but anyone is welcome to attend.
A free workbook will be provided, thanks to sponsorship from Tama County Extension. The workshop will be led by Barb Wollan, Extension Family Finance Program Specialist, and will be non-commercial and non-political.
Additional workshops in Tama County include:
Thurs Nov 14, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Traer Public Library, Traer
Thurs Nov 21, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Tama Civic Center, Tama
