With approval of the Reinig-Toledo Civic Center for the location by the city council and a change in date to Tuesday, Oct. 29, by the sponsoring organization, Toledo PEO?Chapter DF, a Meet the Candidates Night will take place. Starting time is 7 p.m.
Organizers say they believe lot of interest has been generated for a pair of races for council seats and the contest for Toledo mayor.
Incumbent Mayor Dave Svoboda is being challenged by Pam Wood. Svoboda unseated Wood in a race two years ago.
Three candidates including incumbent Brian Sokol, Carol Peterie and Curt Raue are running for an at-large council seat.
There's three candidates seeking the 1st Ward council post held by Travis Mullen who is seeking reelection. They are Larry Simpson, Jim Lyon and Melissa Johnson.
Terry Goodhart is unopposed for 3rd Ward Council member and Joe Boll is unopposed in the 2nd Ward. Goodhart currently represents the 2nd Ward but his place of residence placed him in the 3rd ward following reapportionment after the 2010 Census.
The Toledo City Council gave approval for the use of the Reinig-Toledo Civic Center at no cost for the event during their regular meeting on Monday, Oct. 14.

Tama Council Contest
Three candidates are on the ballot and a write-in candidate has announced for a pair of four-year at-large council seats in Tama.
Mike Carnahan, who was appointed to an at-large seat in 2012 along with Doug Ray and Jarade Purk will be on the ballot. John Anderson is an announced write-in candidate.
