Prior to the regular meeting of the Tama County Board of Supervisors Monday morning, Roger Wacha Jr. was present to state his opposition to deferring the property taxes for Iowa Premium Beef at Tama, until May, and canceling the interest and penalty if paid on time.

The complaint was new business getting special incentives and those who have been in business getting nothing. Other complaints were discussed including the hardship this places on the school system with an influx of new students.

Supervisors said they felt the new business would help the economy of Tama County and were satisfied with their decision.

Laura Kopsa, County Auditor, asked supervisors to act on a re-appropriation for Veterans Affairs and General Relief to correct a budgeting error.

Kopsa says an error had been discovered in budgeting for a line item Veterans Affairs and Relief and she would like to correct this error. To correct the error the board of supervisors resolved that a re-appropriation of funds from the Veterans Affairs Department to the General Relief Department be approved in the amount of $3610.00 in their insurance budget line items.

In other business County Engineer Lyle Brehm reported the shoulder work is completed on Highway T47 and E29, and is being done around Union Grove Lake now. Brehm said the final lift of asphalt on Highway D65 is being done today and tomorrow and shoulder work would follow. Brehm says this project should be completed by the middle of next week.

Claims approved for payment for the past week came to $1,005,165.
