On Nov. 3, 2013, Tama native Katie Patterson will run in the New York City Marathon in an effort to raise money for The Alan T Brown Foundation To Cure Paralysis.
In order to qualify to run with this group, Katie has agreed to raise $3,000 to support this cause. The $3,000 goal was surpassed in mid-August, however donations are still being accepted to reach Katie's new goal of $4,000 for the ATBF.
Established in 1988, the Alan T Brown Foundation to Cure Paralysis (ATBF) supports scientific and medical research worldwide, and has recently directed its focus to Quality of Life issues for people living with motor disabilities and paralysis. ATBF's Outreach and Peer Mentoring Program provides insight and information, empowering SCI individuals to develop a level of independence. While scientists work toward a cure, improvement of chronic conditions associated with paralysis must be addressed. Supporting studies which alleviate pain remains core to our mission. Finding a solution to one of these problems ? that is a "cure" in itself. The Alan T Brown Foundation to Cure Paralysis is a certified not-for-profit organization under IRC Section 501(c)(3).
Katie Patterson gives the thumbs up during a running event in New York. She will be taking part in the New York Marathon in November to benefit the Alan T. Brown Foundation.
Please help ensure that The Alan T Brown Foundation remains a reliable source and friend to the spinally injured community when that one moment in time changes their lives forever.
If you wish to make a tax deductible contribution to ATBF NYC 2013 and help Katie reach her goal, you can do so at www.crowdrise.com/katiepatterson3 or if you wish, checks or cash can be given to Katie's parents, Mark & Sue Patterson (Tama) and they'll forward onto Katie. Any and all donations will be accepted -no amount is too small!
