Renewal of the South Tama School District Physical Plant and Equipment Levy fell one swing vote short of the simple majority needed for passage - 149- yes 150 - no - in unofficial returns of Tuesday's vote. In a bit of drama, the measure was nine votes behind with all but the Montour precinct reported in at the Tama County Auditor - Commissioner of Elections Office at about 8:30 p.m. Montour precinct workers reported a problem with their vote total machine and had to bring it to the Auditor's Office in Toledo. A total of 23 cast ballots at Montour. When the count was obtained from the machine the total showed the one vote difference. The levy is for $1.34 per $1,000 tax valuation. It renews the levy in place for 10 years beginning in 2014. Unofficial results of write-in votes to determine the 4th District South Tama Board member will be released on Wednesday by the Election Office.
