It's almost time for the 8th annual Grape Picking festival at John Ernest Vineyard and Winery, two miles eats of Tama on U.S. Highway 30. You're invited to join in the fun on Saturday, Sept. 7.
There's no cost to take part, but you must pre-register by calling 641-484-8048 or email - firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline to register is Wednesday, Aug 28. Just let them know your name, telephone number and the number of people you're be bringing.
Be aware the harvest is not for children under age eight and older persons should be aware there's a lot of walking required. The winery advises to wear old clothes and shoes and dress in layers as it could be cool. And bring along pruning shears, bug spray and sun screen.

Plan to be at the John Ernest Vineyard at 7:45 a.m. for a short tutorial on the art of grape picking.
Everyone taking part will be treated to a light lunch, wine sampling for all adults a grape crushing demonstration and you can even stomp the grapes after harvest is done.
Rain or shine, it's promised the grapes will be picked.
