Rex Sevcik, 73, of Toledo, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. Funeral services for Rex will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2013, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home, Marshalltown. Rex Sevcik was born on Aug. 27, 1939, in Tama County, the son of William and Thelma (Flynn) Sevcik. He was raised and educated in the Toledo School District, graduating from Toledo High School. Rex joined the Navy in
March of 1957 and honorabley served our country until March of 1963. After the Navy, he worked many years at Farmhand in the factory. Rex had a passion for fishing, hunting, and a natural love for animal's, especially his cat, Bozo.
Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters: Tara (Bryan) Stewart, and Amy (Josh) Good; grandchildren: Kaden and Kolten Good; Breanna, Devyn and Blake Stewart; two sisters, Juanita (Duane) Freese, and Jean Papesh; and one brother, Tim Sevcik.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
