Boil order continues in Toledo

July 18, 2013
By John Speer - Editor ( , Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

UPDATE: Thursday- July 18 3:15 p.m.- A boil order issued for Toledo's municipal water supply will continue until AT LEAST NOON ON SATURDAY - JULY 20. A major water main break downtown at mid-afternoon on Wednesday at the corner of Broadway and High resulted in a draw down of the city supply. A boil order was originally issued in a CodeRED alert authorized by Mayor Dave Svoboda at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The main was repaired overnight.

Now two tests, taken 24 hours apart, must both approve the water supply or the testing procedure must be repeated in its entirety according to City Clerk Julie Wilkerson.

The first test was submitted at noon on Thursday. If that result is okay and a second one submitted at noon Friday also tests okay on Saturday, the boil order can be lifted at noon, Saturday, July 20.

But Wilkerson emphasized if either test is negative, the entire two, 24-hour testing periods must be repeated.
