Update: Boil order in effect for Toledo water

Mayor announces no water overnight

UPDATE: 7:20 p.m.- A boil order was issued for the Toledo municipal water supply about 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, according to a CodeRED alert. The order was issued by Mayor Dave Svoboda. Work is underway in the 100 block of East High Street downtown to repair a break. Water continues to flow from under the pavement at the High and Broadway downtown intersection. The water supply which was announced as off for the night was working at 720 p.m. under the boil order.

UPDATE: 4:30 p.m. July 17- A downtown water main break has resulted in the shutdown of the Toledo municipal water system. A CodeRED alert was issued at 4:25 p.m. announcing the shut down by Mayor Dave Svoboda. There will be no water supply overnight in Toledo on Wednesday, July 17. Residents were advised to secure bottled drinking water.

3:45 p.m.-Wednesday, July 17- Toledo city workers are attempting to find what may be a major water main break in downtown Toledo. Water reportedly began surfacing through the street surface at Broadway and High streets on the north side of the stoplight in the center of the roadways just before 3 p.m. A large stream of water flowed down the gutter to the wets and water could be observed seeping and in some spots gushing through the street surface. A spot was being jack hammered in he street a block east at Church and High at about 3:45 p.m. It was not immediately determined what the effect would be on the city water tower level.
