Tama County Employee Handbook changes reviewed

At the regular meeting of the Tama County Board of Supervisors Monday morning, July 15, members Larry Vest, Kendall Jordan and Dan Anderson, met with county department heads to discuss changes to be made in the employee Hand Book.

Present were Michelle Yuska, county treasurer, Linda Rosenberger, executive director of county Health and Home Care, Bob Etzel, executive director of the county Conservation Commission, Tami Wise, CPC office, Jerry Witt, assessor, Brent Heeren, County Attorney, Ryan Curren, Emergency Management and E911 coordinator, Elizabeth Ledvina, Veteran's Affairs director, Lyle Brehm, engineer and Dirk Henle, maintenance supervisor.

Some of the changes had to do with regular/ part time employees, change due to the Affordable Care Act, cell phone usage, privacy policy (all new), computer use, overtime, sick leave, (dependentparents removed), funeral leave, military leave (in accordance to a law change), holidays, vacations and political activity.

These changes came about due to law changes and requests from employees and department heads.

2013 Homestead/Military exemption removals include one house being razed, one change of title, one forfeiture, three foreclosures, four tax deeds, five sheriff's deed, six NRO, 11 deceased, 14 change of address and 65 sold. A total of 86 new additions were recorded.

Approval was given for the Treasurer's semi-annual report, the Sheriff's quarterly report and the Auditor's quarterly report.

Brehm, the county engineer, reported the asphalt of Highway D65 in the northern part of the county has been removed and has been placed on L Avenue between D65 and the Grundy County line. This is just the beginning of the work on D65.

Brehm says FEMA should be coming soon to visit with him. A declaration has been received from FEMA and they must visit within 60 days of this declaration.

Claims approved for the pastweektotaled $1,125,533.
