Mallory to seek 5th term on IVCCD Board

Yvonne Mallory, rural Toledo, told The Chronicle she will seek a 5th, four-year term as District 6 director on Iowa Valley?Community?College Board.

The election is Sept. 10.

Director District 6 includes the South Tama County School District, Brooklyn-Guernsey-Malcom Community School District and the portion of Grinnell-Newburg Community School District described as lying within MS precinct in Poweshiek County.

"I am particularly excited about the development of an IVCCD Educational Center at the STC Partnership Center (in Tama.) We anticipate opening the Center on or about Sept. 1, 2013," Mallory wrote in a email response to The Chronicle which sought the status of her plans.

"have been talking to the IVCCD President/Chancellor/Board/Leadership Team about this for 10 years. We believe we have the data to support developing this program," she added.

In a news release, Iowa Valley said nomination papers for candidates for the Iowa Valley Community College District (IVCCD) Board of Directors are now available and may be filed with Barbara Jennings, Secretary of the Board, at the IVCCD Administrative Office, 3702 S. Center St. in Marshalltown, any time Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. now through Thursday, Aug. 1

Nomination papers may also be obtained from the Marshall County Auditor's office in the Marshall County Courthouse in downtown Marshalltown. (Marshall County is the control county for the election and the Auditor's office there is the only one in the four-county district which has nomination papers.)

Nomination papers must be filed prior to 5 p.m. on Aug. 1.

Candidates for the IVCCD Board of Directors must be residents of the district they propose to represent.

Two other seats are also on the Sept. 10 ballot.

Director District 3 includes East Marshall Community School District; the portion of Grinnell-Newburg Community School District that lies within Hickory Grove Precinct in Jasper County; and the portion of Marshalltown Community School District that lies within 3rd ward in the City of Marshalltown and Eden/Logan, Jefferson and Timber Creek precincts in Marshall County.

Director District 4 includes the portion of Marshalltown Community School District that lies within 2nd Ward in the City of Marshalltown and Bangor/Liscomb, Marietta/Washington and Taylor precincts in Marshall County; and West Marshall Community School District.
