Robert Scott McFatridge, 46, Tama, is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday, July 11, in Tama County District Court in Toledo on a charge of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness.

Assistant Tama County Attorney Patrick McMullen told The Chronicle the charge stems from the alleged assault of a student at the Iowa Juvenile Home / State Training School for Girls in Toledo which occurred Feb. 4.

The charge was filed on June 27 following an investigation by Toledo Police Officer Brian Randall who is listed as a witness in the County Attorney's information.

McFatridge was reported fired following the incident according to the Iowa Department of Human Services.

A request by The Des Moines Register for a video which the newspaper says shows "a girl allegedly being dragged, kicked and physically abused by the staff at the state-run Iowa Juvenile Home in Toledo" was denied by the Department of Human Services.

The Register reported "the agency denied the Open Records request. Spokesman Roger Munns (now retired) told The Register the video "is a part of law enforcement investigatory file" and the Toledo Police Department has asked DHS to keep it confidential.

The Register also reported a second, unidentified employee, was also fired as a result of the incident.
