Arthur Leslie Landt, 93, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2013. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 1, 2013, at the Gladbrook Chapel of the Anderson Funeral Homes, in Gladbrook, IA. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, June 30, 2013, at the Gladbrook Chapel of the Anderson Funeral Homes. Interment will be at Crystal Cemetery in rural Gladbrook with a lunch served following the burial at the Memorial Hall in Gladbrook. Online condolences may be sent to

Arthur was born on 7 Nov 1919 to the late Hannis and Bertha Landt, in the town of Gladbrook Iowa. He attended and completed the Springcreek Township school from where he traveled to California and worked in a manufacturing aircraft factory before being called up to military service. He served in the European Theater during World War II and landed in Normandy and ended up in Germany on VE day. He met his future wife, Ginette Briclot Landt, in Eix -Abaucourt, France and and they later married in 1949. He remained in the US Army and he was assigned to military assignments in Germany, Alaska, Vietnam and numerous US states. During this time, they had four children. After 30 years of duty he retired in 1972 and settled down in Oklahoma City. He was a man who served his country to the fullest and and displayed the highest pride and respect, changing the lives of many. He received many medals and accommodation, including the Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Award and other medals and awards. He was member of the Gladbrook American Legion. He was an avid fisherman, traveler and enjoyed most of his time with grandchildren. He had a love for life, family and his pets. He always had a good sense of humor, and could make everyone laugh.

Arthur is survived by three children, Ronnie and Anneliese Landt of Abilene, Texas, Donald and Ayako Landt of Moore, Oklahoma, Annette and Mike Collins of Enid, Oklahoma, a daughter- in-law Angie Landt of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He also is survived by a sister Vera Arp of Traer, Iowa, ten grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Ginette Landt, and youngest son Roger Landt. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one sister Alice Hamann, and two brothers, Lavern and Leonard Landt. He will be missed by all.
