Marshalltown Community College has been looking for a way to "become more involved with Toledo" says Nathan Davis. Connie Gardalen, who has the role of success specialist at MCC, and an idea from Travis Mullen, one of the Toledo Stoplight Festival originators, led to Davis' current role.

He is a interning at MCC from the University of Northern Iowa where he is in the Student Affairs Masters Degree Program.

According to the UNI catalog, "This major is designed to prepare an individual for a career in the administration of student affairs programs in college and university settings."

Davis is getting his chance to involve MCC students in the parade. They may have knocked on your door recently if you live in Toledo. Students promoted the parade and invited participation during the visits.

"We had a fairly good response. People were upbeat and excited we were doing something and we had a few entries. We are obviously looking for more," Davis said.

Additionally, Davis said it is hoped the parade leadership will "encourage more students to come to MCC."

Davis is no stranger to smaller city events/ he grew up in State Center, famous for it's annual Rose Festival.
