Iowa Valley Board approves salary increases

Grant 3.93 percent hike to all non-faculty

GRINNELL- The Iowa Valley Community College District (IVCCD) Board of Directors approved a 3.93% total package increase for all non-faculty employees when it met in regular session June 12 in Grinnell.

Effective July 1, the total package increase includes Iowa Valley Continuing Education and District Office, Marshalltown Community College, and Ellsworth Community College office/clerical, plant services, and professional staff.

Also related to contract matters, the Board approved a new three-year employment contract for 2013-2016 with IVCCD Chancellor Chris Duree, which included a 3.93% total package increase.

In other matters, the IVCCD Board: approved an agreement with Wes Finch Auto Plaza for the second year to utilize their facilities for Iowa Valley Grinnell's Automotive Technology program; approved an agreement with Snack Express to provide vending services at Iowa Valley Grinnell; approved agreement with the American Dental Association to meet federal regulations required for MCC's Dental Assisting program; approved agreement between Iowa Valley and YFU USA, Inc. to provide YFU community college programming on the ECC and MCC; approved 260F Iowa Jobs Training Agreements with Ryerson Coil Processing ($15,388) and Montezuma Manufacturing ($25,000); approved an amendment to the Workforce Investment Act-Region 06 Master Agreement that adds money in state set aside funding to offset some effects of sequestration; approved 3-year lease agreement between Iowa Valley and Iowa Workforce Development for space at the R.M. Wolfe building; approved agreement between the Iowa Association of Community College Trustees (IACCT), Iowa Valley Community College District, and four other community colleges to continue and assume program, fiscal and operational responsibility for the One Source Training Program.

Donations Accepted

Eight gift donations were accepted by the Board: 11 trees valued at $1,965 from Betty and Frank Haker to MCC; eight digital media players, LCD monitors, web-based digital software licenses, and installation /training at an estimated value of $44,184 from Ovation Interactive, LLC; $200 from David and Jane Norris to the Friends of the Orpheum campaign; $100 from William and Shirley Frei to the Friends of the Orpheum campaign; a uniform valued at $200 from Erika Miller for the Orpheum Theater Center; a donation to the Orpheum Theater Center gallery from Ms. Duffy de France at an estimated value of $30; $169.60 from David and Lynda Haupert to go to the Jean Seberg International Film Festival; two large pictures to be placed in the Education and Training Center, and a replacement cellular phone for Plant Services from Brett and Lisa Purvis, valued at $411.

The Board entered into closed session under the provisions of Chapter 20.17 of the Code of Iowa for the purposes of a collective bargaining session. Following the closed session, no action was taken.

The next regular meeting of the IVCCD Board of Directors will be at 4 pm on Wednesday, July 10, in Marshalltown.
