Tama Police Chief Dan Wilkens noted summer is here and at least five incidents of vandalism had already been reported to Tama Police over the past couple of weeks.
Two weeks ago an above-ground swimming pool in the 300 block of East 4th Street was slashed. The pool owner said not only did they lose the $500 pool and all the water used to fill it, but they were in the process of completing a $1,000 fence around it. The fence was a requirement of their homeowner's insurance carrier.
An above-ground swimming pool at a residence in the 700 block of Oswego was slashed apart on the night of June 15-16 police said.
The night before, a trampoline in a yard in the 800 block of Oswego was slashed.
In addition, a pair of downtown Tama business buildings were the object of taggers who painted graffiti.
