MARSHALLTOWN - Marshalltown Community College is an approved testing center offering Microsoft Office Specialist certification exams for Word, Word Expert, Excel, Excel Expert, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
The certification is a valuable credential that recognizes the desktop computing skills needed to use the full features and functionality of the software and promotes academic preparedness and workforce readiness for students.
This year, 13 students from MCC earned Microsoft Certification. These students are now able to effectively use these powerful applications to complete tasks and projects more efficiently.
Among MCC students earning Microsoft Certifications this year are:
Excel Core Certification:
Daniel Ahumada, Toledo, online accounting student; Dustin Kalinay, Toledo, liberal arts student; Christina Smith, Tama, online South Tama High School student.
For students, the certification provides individual differentiation, builds self-confidence, and delivers real-world, recognized credentials.
Certification supports students' future academic success by offering them the opportunity to develop foundational computing expertise as part of their chosen course of study.
It also knocks down the academic obstacles and barriers that typically disenchant new college students leading to increased dropout rates.
Workplace recruiters know that the holder of a certificate is highly motivated and productive since certification exams test for the relevant skills students and employees use in day-to-day tasks, managing projects and preparing presentations, with the exam scenarios being more challenging than most workplace situations.
