Before Judge Mary E. Chicchelly in Tama County District Court in Toledo:
Lee Arden Schulze, 75, rural Garwin, entered a written guilty plea to a charge of assault - domestic abuse in a plea agreement. Judgement was deferred, he was placed on unsupervised probation for one year and assessed a $315 civil penalty.
Schulze was originally accused of serious domestic abuse assault for allegedly throwing a soda can at his girlfriend resulting in a moon-like shaped cut on her chin. The charge was filed on April 26 by Tama County Deputy Sheriff David Rangel.
Derrick Ray Lynn, 28, Montour, pled guilty to two counts of serious assault. He was fined $315 on each charge and sentenced to five day jail terms to be served concurrently. Lynn was credited for the five days already served.
He was originally cited for child endangerment, two counts of domestic abuse assault and a third assault charge by Deputy Sheriff Joe Quandt. Lynn was engaged in a mutual fight with his girlfriend during which time a child present was accidentally struck by Lynn.
Before Judge Douglas S. Russell:
Luis Antonio Puentes, 19, Montour, entered written guilty pleas to charges of 1st offense drunken driving, 5th degree criminal mischief and operating a motor vehicle without the owner's consent. On the drunken driving charge Puentes was sentenced to two days in jail and fined and assessed a surcharge totaling $1,700.
A deferred judgment was granted for operating without consent. Puentes was placed on probation for one year to the 6th Judicial District Department of Correctional Services.
The charges were filed on April 11 at the junction of County Roads E49 and T47 by Tama county Deputy Sheriff Bryan Ellenbecker.
