Before Judge Marsha A. Bergan in Tama County District Court in Toledo:

Michael Joseph Tines, 22, Waterloo, received a deferred sentenced and was placed on probation for two years to the 6th Judicial District Department of Correctional Services. He pled guilty earlier to 2nd degree theft.

Tines was charged on Sept, 30, 2012, with 2nd degree theft and ongoing criminal conduct for allegedly using the checking account of another person to pay bills in an amount in excess of $5,000. The charge was filed by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Bruce Rhoads.

Tines civil penalty totaling $750 will be suspended if he successfully completes probation. A $125 law enforcement surcharge was applied.
