Free fishing days for Iowa residents are June 7, 8 and 9, 2013. A fishing license is not required during these days, but all other fishing regulations apply.
Two Marshall County hunter safety classes will be offered at the Izaak Walton League grounds 2 miles south of Iowa Avenue on 12th Ave/Smith Ave. The June class will be held June 20 from 6 to 9 p.m. and June 22 from 8 a.m.to 4 p.m. The August class will be held August 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. and August 17 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Completion of a hunter safety course is required for anyone born after January 1, 1972 who wishes to buy a hunting license. Students must be 12 or older to enroll and attend both sessions. Course registrations are accepted on line at www.iowadnr.gov/training.
A kid's fishing derby is being sponsored by the Marshall County Izaak Walton League and Riverside Cemetery on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Riverside Cemetery from 8 a.m. to noon. The derby is open to kids up to age 12 and prizes will be given out.
