Naomi Wanatee, 78, Tama, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Grandview Heights in Marshalltown under the care of Iowa Hospice. Traditional Graveside Services will be held Friday, May 31, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Morgan Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama with Michael Keahna as speaker. A Traditional Wake will be held Thursday evening, May 30, at the Fox Clan Ceremonial Building on the Meskwaki Settlement, rural Tama.
Naomi was born on July 7, 1934, in Toledo, the daughter of Moses and Bessie (Youngbear) Slick.
She graduated from Tama High School.
Naomi married Gailey C. Wanatee. She retired from Fisher Controls-Emerson Process Management in Marshalltown. She liked gardening and canning, but her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Gailey; her son, Terence; two brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include two daughters, Galene Johnson of Tama, and Diahann Wanatee of Minnesota; two sons, Galen and Troy Wanatee both of Tama; three sisters, Eurene Dickey, Charlene Slick, and Audrey Burns all of Tama; one brother, Virgil Slick of Tama; her grandchildren; nephew; nieces; and cousins.
Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo is assisting with the arrangements.
