Bridge for Beginners

Broaden Your Horizons

Bridge is a fascinating card game. It is packed with strategy, and a bridge player's mind is continuously working. Using the bidding process, players are often able to have a good picture of every other player's cards without actually viewing them. And the bridge player and his or her partner communicate through the bidding. The two can decide if they want the bid, and if so, at what point and in what suit. They might also decide that it is best to give the other two players the bid and defend against them.

Playing the game is an opportunity for even more strategy. The person who wins the bid can plan how to get the most out of his or her hand and the partner's hand.

In the game of bridge, it is true that "practice makes perfect." In this bridge class, you will learn the fundamentals of bridge. Then with practice, you can refine your skills. Experienced bridge players are great teachers. They will be happy to help you go past the beginner's stage and learn the game.

A word of caution, bridge is so much fun that it can become addictive, but it is a very positive addiction to have.

Learn the fundamentals of bridge on June 3, 4, 6, and loth in the dining area of the Carrington apartments. The class will begin at 6:30 PM. Tuition is $9.
