Tama's downtown "Pocket Park" to be developed

May 19, 2013

A city-owned lot where two business buildings stood, continues under study for a small park development.

There was a bit of good-natured confusion about the park plans at the Tama City Council meeting on Monday night, May 6.

However, it emerged the park will be the setting for at least a new park bench and picnic table which the city already has on hand.

The placement of these items and possibly others in the space will be determined by a private downtown business committee group.

City?Clerk Judy Welch said a description of the area she found on the internet describes the space as a "pocket Park."

The space was last occupied by Kupka's Meat Market and Leno's Saloon.
