Tama County Supervisors Larry Vest, Kendall Jordan and Dan Anderson approved a lease for Pheasant Ridge Care Facility, managed by Genesis Development, for a year with the contract period July 13- June 30, 2014.

The lease will be $1000 a monthly. There has been a change in the lease for the coming year due to the reduction in the number of beds which can be provided through Medicare.

The quarterly report of the Tama County Recorder was also approved. This shows the total fees collected as $28,407.52 plus E-commerce fees already paid to the county treasurer for the months January, February and March in the amount of $891.00 for a total of $29,298.52.

Tama County Conservation Director Bob Etzel was present and requested funds to be placed in the Land Acquisition and Development Account (LAD).

This would be funds from crop rent for 2013. Kam Koster has 1/2 crop rent on Parcel C Hansen Addition, for $4,500, 1/2 Crop Rent on Parcel B Hansen addition for $2363 and 1/2 crop rent for the Reinig tract for $4163. Clint Wobeter has the other half of the three in the same amount with the total to go into the LAD account of $22,050.

The county engineer's report shows bids were received in Ames for the resurfacing of Highway D65 near Dinsdale.

The low bid was from Aspro Inc. of Waterloo for $2,296,709. This is a little more than $100,000 below the estimate. The late date to start for the project is July 8, 2013.

This means the work will be done yet this summer. The board approved the bid.

Ruth Pushetonequa requested use of the courthouse lawn for a Women Veterans and Grandmothers Festival to be held this Saturday, May 4.

She said everything is ready to go and she has visited with Elizabeth Ledvina, Director of Veterans Affairs.

Susan Jones presented two utility permits for approval. One permit was for Windstream to do work in Spring Creek Township on E Avenue and one for MediaCom to do fiberoptics in Carlton Township.

Claims approved for the past week totaled $156,742.
